Tree & Roses

OMG what I went through trying to plant a blue spruce tree in my backyard, along with some roses from Lake Oswego I'm trying to save.  First of all, there was wire netting stuff a couple of inches below the surface of the ground you had to cut through.  Then, trying to dig in the HARD HARD clay/sand soil was AWFUL.  I used water, a shovel, hammer, screwdriver, and scissors.  It didn't help that it's near 90 degrees today.  I hope to God the tree makes it and that the roses revive because I can't go through this again.  I was talking to a guy today who hit shale 7 feet down when trying to put in his pool, which caused problems.  He knows some other guy not far away who had to dynamite his backyard (seriously) in order to put in a pool it was so badly solid rock.  I'd love to plant a bunch of trees, but no thanks!  The blue spruce is supposed to grow to 40 feet anyway, so it should take up half my backyard in 20 years.  LOL

In honor of Dennis Hopper, fellow Taos lover, and because I needed my
Taos fix...I drove up to my beloved for the day. The first picture
from a distance is actually Santa Fe from a rest stop where I met and
talked to a lovely retired couple who are camping in a tent in every
state west of the Mississippi River this summer. I discovered hidden
gems in Taos that I had never seen before, like the lovely park with
pond that is technically someone's private property but it's part of
their art gallery, and the great Mabel Dodge house. I went all the way
up to Taos Ski Valley but didn't stay too long as it was chilly up
there and it was getting late. I totally forgot that there is a huge
biker rally every Memorial Day Weekend in Red River, so there were
people on Harley's EVERYWHERE.....kind of annoying actually. I had a
great day though and I love Taos so much! ~ Atheria

Getting back into writing & other changes...

This is just a quick post before going to bed.  I've not blogged in a long time but plan on getting back into it.  I have also started writing something....possibly a novel....that is if I can stick to it.  I just have this need to express lately, and do something creative.

Much has changed since January when I last wrote.  I am typing this in my new house.  It took me until age 43 to become a home owner, but better late than never.  I can't believe how good it feels to know this little 2 bedroom house is MINE.  My emotions waffle from excitement to fear as I've never had this kind of financial responsibility before.  But, I feel spirit with me and know I'll be okay.  I am especially glad I can give my cats more room, and for the first time in their lives, a backyard for them to play in.  They love it!

My life has opened up since moving back to magical New Mexico.  I fully believe that when you are in the right place for your soul, things align for the good.

Best wishes,
Atheria
