I visited these horses a week or two ago. Today, the thin and frail 30 year old one had a lame left back leg. While the owner went to call a vet to come out to look at her, I took this video. It made me cry how the younger horse knew something was wrong and kept rubbing his/her head against the injured mare. He/she even mimicked the lame leg as if to show me, "See?! Something is wrong!" He also stamped his front foot a couple of times and clung to her like glue, noting attention on her hips and resting his head on her back. If people continue to think that animals don't THINK and FEEL and LOVE....they are VERY WRONG. I pray the older horse didn't have anything really bad wrong, but I could see her ankle was swollen a bit.
